Project Description
Little Pohutukawa Preschool, Albany
This purpose-built Early Learning Centre is located in Albany, Auckland, providing a spacious and light filled learning environment for children, as well as a cafe at the front of the centre. The separately tenanted café alongside a childcare is a growing trend, creating a multi-use building that becomes a sociable community meeting place.
Classrooms are arranged around either side of the centrally placed entrance, and all feature large glass sliding doors that seamlessly connect indoors and outdoors, and providing the rooms with natural light and natural ventilation that is well above the building code minimum. Each classroom is directly connected to a spacious playground that has been extensively planted with native species, as well as playful spaces including sandpits, play structures and landscaped grassy patches.
