Project Description
Peacocks Early Learning Centre, Stonefields
This early learning project in Stonefields is for a 100 children split into four rooms on the ground floor, with the administration space set above.
The early learning centre is expressed as two volumes; the support functions balance on top of and cantilever over the entrance to the children’s level.
The children’s spaces are glass boxes set back within the solid lower floor volume, which also defines covered external spaces that provide shading to the internal areas.
The volumes are broken down externally into transparent, semi-transparent and solid elevations, creating routes through between car park and entrance, defining public and private spaces.
The lower floor also accommodates a large dining room and kitchen to enable dining and learning to be separated.
